Huntington Ingalls (NYSE: HII) has received a potential $152 million contract for design, research, development and engineering of the U.S. Navy™s future nuclear-powered aircraft carrier Enterprise.
The company will also use a portion of the contract funds to obtain long lead-time materials that will be used to construct the CVN 80 carrier, the Defense Departmentsaid Monday.
Huntington Ingalls will execute the task in Newport News, Virginia, through March 2018.
The Naval Sea Systems Command serves as the contracting activity for the sole-source contract and is obligating $29.7 million in fiscal 2016 Navy shipbuilding, conversion, research, development, test and evaluation funds at the time of award.
CVN 80 will be the third aircraft carrier in the service branch’s Ford class.
