HP Federal’s Todd Gustafson: Agencies Should Pave Way for Mobility, Collaboration in Workforce

Todd Gustafson, president of HP™s federal business, wrote in a commentary published Friday on Federal News Network that government agencies should enable their employees to be more collaborative and mobile to facilitate engagement with citizens and meet their needs.

Agencies should advance flexibility by equipping their staff with enterprise-class mobile tools œdesigned to provide a seamless transition from mobile device to a laptop to a desktop PC, Gustafson wrote. œWhen employees have this flexibility, they are less location-dependent and can more easily submit expense reports, manage meetings, track time and book travel from anywhere.

He noted that agencies should facilitate collaboration among employees through the use of digital tools such as Skype, Google Hangouts and WebEx to carry out public sector programs and policy proposals.

Gustafson said agencies should also establish a strong security policy and ensure the security of the hardware they buy as they increase the adoption of digital platforms.

œAI-enabled real-time detection and prevention measures have to be included in any comprehensive protection protocol, be it mobile or otherwise, he added.
