Sean Brophy, regional vice president of public sector sales at Tableau Software (NYSE: DATA), has said government agencies should advance the use of data analytics to learn how citizens engage with the government.
Brophy wrote that adopting data analytics tools could help agencies identify the needs of citizens and deliver government services that are tailored to meet individual requirements.
œAgencies can match programs and resources to the highest-priority citizen needs, ensuring that no one is left behind and that at-risk citizens receive the services they need, he added.
He noted that agencies should seek suggestions and feedback on system and process changes from frontline and backroom employees who have direct interaction with citizens in order to facilitate the delivery of public services.
œIn addition, IT organizations should not shy away from implementing the best technology to deliver the best experience, even if it is not the cheapest technology, he added.
Brophy also cited how privacy concerns affect the government™s data gathering initiatives as well as the efforts of agencies to develop policies that aim to ensure the security and privacy of personal data.
