HII (NYSE: HII) has won a seven-year, $78.7 million contract to provide independent advice and assessment support for the Missile Defense Agency’s initiative to develop an integrated and layered system for intercepting adversary missiles.
The Department of Defense named Alion Science and Technology the awardee of the competitive cost-plus-fixed-fee contract on Wednesday. HII, which acquired Alion in 2021 and integrated the latter into the parent company’s Mission Technologies division, is shown as the contractor in a notice posted on SAM.gov.
HII will assist MDA in policy development, acquisition planning, engineering and test efforts associated with the layered missile defense system, the Department of Defense said Wednesday.
The agency received three proposals for the project and is obligating $1.1 million in fiscal 2023 research, development, test and evaluation funds on the award.
Contract work is scheduled to occur through September 2030, and locations of performance include Fort Belvoir in Virginia and facilities in Alabama and Colorado.
