Huntington Ingalls Industries (NYSE: HII) has been awarded a six-month, $187.1M contract modification to continue preparations for the refueling and complex overhaul of a U.S. Navy nuclear-powered supercarrier.
The service branch extended the period of performance under a previously awarded contract for advance planning efforts for the USS John C. Stennis modernization project, the Department of Defense said Wednesday.
HII will procure long-lead time materials material, perform pre-overhaul inspections and tests, create a technical document and drawing, estimate costs and allocate resources.
Work under the modification is scheduled to conclude by January 2021.
The company initially received a $187.6M contract in August 2018 for advance CVN 74 RCOH planning and engineering services.
