Georgia Tech's Research Arm Secures $770M Contract to Support USAF Radar Threat System Production

The Georgia Institute of Technology’s nonprofit research organization has secured a $770 million sole-source award from the U.S. Air Force to build a threat system simulator for military aircrew training activities.

Georgia Tech Applied Research Corp. will provide the Advanced Radar Threat System-Variant 1, technical data package and training support to the military service under the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract, the Department of Defense said Monday.

According to a March solicitation notice, USAF will deploy the system to train pilots of different military aircraft platforms to defend against surface-to-air missiles.

The AF Life Cycle Management Center is obligating $43,952 at the time of award from the service branch’s fiscal 2021 other procurement funds.

DOD expects GTARC to complete the work Oct. 24, 2027.
