Schafer provides engineering, scientific and technical services to military and intelligence agency clients in support of their national security efforts, Gryphon said Monday.
“By combining Schafer with Gryphon, we are strengthening our strategic capabilities and footprint, while expanding the service offerings of both companies,” said Gryphon CEO P.J. Braden.
Kirk Konert, a principal at AE Industrial Partners, said the acquisition aligns with Gryphons strategy to establish an engineering and technical services firm that supports the countrys national security programs.
Kirkland & Ellis and PwC respectively served as legal and financial advisers to Gryphon.
AE Industrial Partners, which invests in aerospace and defense, specialty industrial and power generation businesses, acquired Gryphon in September.
Belcan purchased Schafer from Metalmark Capital Partners in 2017 as part of its move to expand its technical and engineering service offerings.
