General Dynamics‘ (NYSE: GD) Bath Iron Works subsidiary has received a potential $922M contract modification to build a fifth Arleigh Burke-class destroyer for the U.S. Navy.
The modification has a $910.7M initial value and includes options for the shipbuilder to carry out design budgeting requirements, engineering change proposals and post-delivery availabilities, the Department of Defensesaid Friday.
The Navy exercised a fiscal 2019 option for the DDG 132 construction project under a potential $4.03B multiyear contract awarded in September and will initially obligate $900.7M on the option ship.
Work under the modification will occur at various locations across the U.S. through May 2026.
