General Dynamics‘ (NYSE: GD) Electric Boat subsidiary has won a potential $882.1 million contract to develop a large vertical array fixture for U.S. Navy submarine acoustic detection efforts.
The Naval Sea Systems Command received two bids for the cost-plus-incentive-fee, firm-fixed-price contract through a full and open competition on FedBizOpps, the Defense Departmentsaid Thursday.
DoD noted that LVA technology will work to help the Navy build and install very large arrays while minimizing risks to submarine signatures, hydrodynamics and naval architecture.
The contract has a base value of $64.2 million and work will occur in California, Connecticut, Florida, New York and Pennsylvania through August 2019.
The Navy obligated $13.1 million in fiscal 2017 research, development, test and evaluation funds at the time of award.
