A General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) subsidiary has landed a potential $1.04B contract to design and engineer operational strategic and attack submarines for the U.S. Navy.
General Dynamics Electric Boat will provide drawings, technical data and design change documentation under the cost-plus-fixed-fee contract, the Department of Defense said Thursday.
Services will involve engineering of hull, mechanical and electrical structures, configuration change program design, technical trade support and modernization of submarine or submersible systems.
Electric Boat will also support training, evaluation, research, development, modernization, temporary modification and special studies.
The contract has a base value of $173.8 million and the service branch will obligate $24.5 million at the time of award. Work will primarily take place in Groton, Conn., and scheduled to occur through September 2023.
