General Dynamics‘ (NYSE: GD) land systems business has received a $714M delivery order to modernize 174 M1A1 Abrams main battle tanks for the U.S. Army.
The company said Tuesday it will equip the vehicles with version 3 of the M1A2 System Enhancement Package that includes updated communications and armor technologies.
The order falls under a contract the Army awarded in December 2017 and brings the number of M1A2 SEPv3 tank orders from the military service during 2018 to 274.
Work will take place at the Joint Systems Manufacturing Center in Lima, Ohio, and at company facilities in Scranton, Pa., and Tallahassee, Fla.
