General Dynamics Secures $580M Army Contract

The U.S. Army has awarded a task order valued at up to $580 million to General Dynamics Global Force for Integrated Base Defense, or IBD, and force protection family of systems equipment and support.

The task order covers comprehensive training, contractor logistics, and operator and sustainment services, the Army said Wednesday.

The anticipated period of performance is five years, including four 12-month options. The requirements will be provided within and outside the contiguous United States.

“The systems sustained under this task order act as a force multiplier, both CONUS and OCONUS, and protect the Warfighter by increasing situational awareness while enhancing national security,” commented Lt. Col. Matthew Einhorn, product manager for the Army Product Manager Force Protection Systems, or PM FPS.

What is IBD?

IBD aims to enhance the integration and interoperability of existing base defense systems to improve overall base operations.

According to the Army, the program requires an efficient management approach to integrate multiple products and activities, including transportation, shipping, warehouse management, Field Service Representatives, and asset visibility.
