The U.S. Air Force has awarded General Atomics’ aeronautical systems business a potential $173.5 million contract to perform capability upgrades to four MQ-9A Reaper unmanned aerial vehicles and two ground control stations.
The sole-source contract involves foreign military sales to the Netherlands and includes the delivery of spares, support equipment and upgrade kits, the Department of Defense said Thursday.
The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center is the contracting activity and is obligating $85 million using FMS funds.
Work will occur in Poway, California, through Jan. 15, 2029.
MQ-9A Reaper is a remotely piloted aircraft designed to perform intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions over land and sea. The UAV can carry 3,850 pounds of payload at up to 50,000 feet for over 27 hours.
