General Electric (NYSE: GE) has secured a $219.4M contract modification to deliver 48 engines and related devices for lot 23 of the U.S. Navy’s F/A-18E/F Super Hornet jets.
The Navy will obligate the full amount for the F414-GE-400 aircraft engine supply using the service branch’s fiscal 2019 aircraft procurement funds, the Department of Defense said Monday.
Fifty-nine percent of work will take place in Massachusetts and the rest will occur in Kentucky, Vermont and New Hampshire. DoD expects the company to complete work by August 2021.
GE designed its F414-GE-400 turbofan engine to help increase the Super Hornet’s thrust by 35 percent.
