GDIT’s expanding role in delivering zero trust and AI-enabled cybersecurity platforms underscores the growing importance of cyber resilience across the defense enterprise. These priorities will be central to discussions at the Potomac Officers Club’s 2026 Cyber Summit on May 21, where government and industry experts will explore strategies for countering evolving digital threats. What Is the Scope of the Air Force Zero Trust Task Order?

Under the task order, the company will use its Everest Zero Trust Digital Accelerator to facilitate the implementation of an artificial intelligence-enabled, data-centric cybersecurity platform to protect information at every classification level and deliver threat detection capabilities to more than 1 million users across 187 Air Force bases worldwide.

According to GDIT, the initiative will enable the military branch to meet the Department of War chief information officer’s zero trust mandate ahead of the September 2027 deadline.

“As cyber threats continue to escalate in velocity and sophistication from our adversaries, zero trust is fundamental to our national security,” said Brian Sheridan, senior vice president for defense at GDIT. “As a long-standing partner of the Air Force, we look forward to delivering an advanced AI-enabled cybersecurity solution that will secure its data, mitigate threats quickly, and strengthen our warfighters’ advantage in cyberspace.”

What Does GDIT Do?

GDIT is a business unit of General Dynamics with over five decades of experience providing cyber platforms for critical defense missions.

In September, GDIT announced that it received a $1.5 billion contract from U.S. Strategic Command for enterprise IT systems modernization support. Under the contract, the company will implement advanced cyber and zero trust platforms to protect the combatant command’s data and networks from evolving threats.

In November, the company launched its AI-enabled VENIN Full-Spectrum Cyber Digital Accelerator to deliver tools that work to strengthen the government’s ability to respond to evolving cyber threats.

In addition, GDIT has expanded its centers of excellence for cyber, AI and mission software to accelerate the delivery of critical capabilities to government agencies.
