Four Firms to Support Non-Nuclear Production for Navy Submarines Under $167M Contract

Orbis Sibro, Q.E.D. Systems, Delphinus Engineering and Oceaneering International‘s (NYSE: OII) Chesapeake, Va. office will provide non-nuclear support for production efforts and repairs of U.S. Navy submarines under a shared potential five-year, $167M multiple-award contract.

The companies will provide marine electrician, industrial fire watch, marine pipefitter, outside marine machinist, marine painter, weight handler and marine ship fitter services across 14 trades of Virginia– and Los Angeles-class submarines, the Defense Department said Tuesday.

Services will also include shipwright, welder, sheet metal, marine insulator, abrasive blaster, deck time setter and sound tile setter support for upcoming submarine classes.

The Navy will initially obligate $1K in fiscal 2018 funds as a minimum guarantee per contractor, for a total initial obligation of $4K.

Work will take place in Kittery, Maine through October 2019 and may continue for four more years if given options are exercised.

The service branch competitively solicited for the cost-plus-fixed-fee, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract online and received four proposals.
