Fortinet (Nasdaq: FTNT) has acquired Herndon, Va.-based cloud services provider OPAQ Networks for an undisclosed sum in a strategy to offer an integrated platform that converges software-defined networking and network security functions.
Sunnyvale, Calif.-based Fortinet said Monday it looks to update the company's "Secure Access Service Edge" offering through the integration of its Security Fabric product with OPAQ's cloud-based zero trust network access technology.
OPAQ designed its platform to help customers secure distributed networks that encompass data centers, connected devices and remote users.
Ken Xie, founder, chairman and CEO of Fortinet, said the company made the acquisition in a push to bring its security, SD-WAN and networking offerings to the SASE market.
