Two NASA veterans and two aerospace industry executives started up a new company that is developing a robotic platform to support cislunar space exploration and missions in various Earth orbits.
Quantum Space aims to provide satellite deployment, payload hosting, data acquisition and logistics services to customers through the use of a commercial robotic outpost, the company said Thursday.
Kam Ghaffarian, a businessman who established Stinger Ghaffarian Technologies and multiple aerospace ventures, teamed up with former NASA officials Steve Jurczyk and Ben Reed to form Quantum Space.
Jurczyk and Reed previously served as acting administrator at NASA and division chief at the agency’s Goddard Space Flight Center, respectively.
Kerry Wisnosky, co-founder and former principal owner of Millennium Engineering and Integration, joined the trio to help launch their new venture.
“We aim to remove barriers to entry for utilizing space to deliver more science, more data and information, strengthen national security and accelerate commercial activities,” said Jurczyk, who leads the new company as president and CEO.
