Former Deputy Defense Secretary Robert Work Joins Raytheon Board; Thomas Kennedy Comments

Robert Work, former deputy secretary at the Defense Department and a 27-year U.S. Marine Corps veteran, has been elected to the board of directors at Raytheon (NYSE: RTN).

“Bob is well known in both the public and private sectors for his significant expertise in global security matters, most especially in the areas of defense strategy, advanced technologies, international studies and acquisition reform,” Thomas Kennedy, chairman and CEO of Raytheon, said in a statement released Monday.

Work held DoD’s no. 2 civilian position from May 2014 until July 2017 and previously served as U.S. Navy undersecretary from 2009 to 2013.

He also led the Center for a New American Security in Washington as CEO for one year before he rejoined DoD as deputy defense secretary.

Between 2002 and 2009, the retired Marine Corps colonel also held the roles of senior fellow for maritime affairs and vice president for strategic studies at the Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments.

Work, an inductee into Executive Mosaic‘s Wash100 for 2015 and 2016, also worked as adjunct professor at George Washington University.
