John Hamre
John Hamre, a former deputy secretary of defense and current president of the Center for Strategic and International Studies, has been elected to succeed the retiring Charles Robb as chairman of Mitre‘s board of trustees.
Hamre also previously served as comptroller of the Defense Department, deputy assistant director for national security and international affairs at the Congressional Budget Office and a Senate Armed Services Committee aide, Mitre said Thursday.
“His leadership, knowledge, and experience will be invaluable as MITRE takes on a variety of challenges for our national security sponsors and other government organizations, ” Mitre President and CEO Alfred Grasso said.
“I look forward to working more closely with him in overseeing the seven federally funded research and development centers that we operate, ” Grasso added.
Robb, a former U.S. senator, has chaired Mitre’s board of trustees over the past two years and is leaving after 15 years of service to the nonprofit.
