Eric Chewning Rejoins McKinsey & Co. as Partner

Eric Chewning, a former official at the Department of Defense, has returned to management consulting firm McKinsey & Co. as a partner, Defense News reported Monday.

“Eric will bring his expertise to support clients across several pillars of the U.S. economy, including aerospace and defense, electronics and semi-conductors,” Varun Marya, senior partner and Americas leader of McKinsey’s aerospace and defense practice, told the publication.

Chewning most recently served as chief of staff to Mark Esper, secretary of DoD and a 2020 Wash100 award winner, and to then-Acting DoD Secretary Patrick Shanahan, also a previous Wash100 recipient. He stepped down from his role as a partner at McKinsey in 2017 to join the Pentagon as deputy assistant secretary for industrial policy.

He served in the U.S. Army as a tactical intelligence officer and worked at Morgan Stanley & Co. as an investment banker.
