Leidos ‘ (NYSE: LDOS) Dynetics subsidiary has unveiled its proposal for the U.S. Army’s competition that seeks a ground-based weapon system to defend against unmanned aircraft and cruise missile threats.
Dynetics said Thursday its Enduring Shield offering in the service branch’s Indirect Fire Protection Capability Increment 2 program is designed to fire various missile types and has cybersecurity and electronic warfare features.
Ronnie Chronister, senior vice president for weapons technology and manufacturing at Dynetics, said the system builds on the company’s previous launcher and hypersonic missile development work for the Army.
Enduring Shield is intended to operate with the Integrated Air and Missile Defense Battle Command System and provide warfighters a 360-degree coverage area to support multitarget engagement.
