Leaders from the Department of Energy, the U.S. Army and the Defense Information Systems Agency are set to give their perspectives on the cybersecurity aspect of national security programs in their keynote addresses at a Sept. 21 virtual event hosted by Executive Mosaic’s flagship Government Contracting Wire (GovCon Wire).
Puesh Kumar, acting principal deputy assistant secretary at the Department of Energy’s Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security and Emergency Response, will headline the GovCon Wire event.
Kumar assumed his current position in April and leads work at the DOE to protect energy infrastructure assets from cyber, physical and natural hazards. He previously served as principal manager of cybersecurity engineering and risk management at Southern California Edison.
DOE released in July its latest iteration of the Cybersecurity Capability Maturity Model, a guidance tool that allows power companies to assess their processes, methods and practices for securing operational and information technology assets.
“Through the release of C2M2 Version 2.0 and other activities under the 100-day ICS Cyber Initiative, we are taking deliberate action to protect against cyber threats and attacks,” Kumar said at the time.
The GCW summit will also feature Major Gen. Maria Barrett, commanding general of Army Network Enterprise Technology Command, as second keynote speaker and DISA Director Lt. Gen. Robert Skinner as closing keynote speaker.
