Data Device Corp. has agreed to acquire a Maxwell Technologies (NASDAQ: MXWL) subsidiary that manufactures microelectronic components for satellites and space vehicles.
Vincent Buffa, DDC president and CEO, said in a statement published Tuesday acquiring Maxwell’s microelectronics business is part of DDC’s push to expand into markets that require radiation-hardened microelectronics.
The business specializes in the development, integration and testing of semiconductors and single-board computers designed to function in high-radiation environments.
Bohemia, New York-based DDC builds and offers connectivity, power and control technologies in the aerospace, defense and industrial markets.
DDC says it has provided hybrid microcricuits,  data bus interfaces, motion feedback and motor drive systems and controllers to aerospace customers over the past 30 years.
