Dave Wajsgras, president of the intelligence, information and services business at Raytheon, has said a software development approach commonly used in nondefense and high-technology organizations helped the company modernize a military satellite ground control segment, Denver Post reported Tuesday.
Wajsgras, a 2019 Wash100 Award recipient, told Denver Post the defense firm increased efforts to turn around the GPS Operational Control System modernization program.
Raytheon completed the development of OCX software and hardware and said the company remains on schedule to deliver the system to the U.S. Air Force by June 2021. Efforts are underway to integrate and test the updated segment.
œI would suggest the most important thing we did was to change the process substantially,” he noted. “I™d call it almost a 180 from the way we had developed software in the past, from the traditional way for the Department of Defense.”
The system received the Pentagon’s highest designation for cybersecurity.
