She succeeded Peter Ranks, who stepped down in late November and returned to the intelligence community, and is responsible for overseeing enterprise infrastructure programs that support DOD’s digital transformation strategy.
Her priority areas as full-time DCIO for IE include information technology reform, network optimization, software modernization and cloud adoption.
Previously, she advised the White House’s Office of Science and Technology Policy on federal IT policies and served as deputy director for information network modernization in the DOD CIO office, where she helped implement an enterprise midpoint cybersecurity system for the department.
Metz also worked at the Defense Information Systems Agency as a senior manager and IT specialist with responsibility for helping secure the DOD network.
Her experience in the government encompasses enterprise IT acquisition, policy development, budgeting and program management for various initiatives such as the reform line of effort under DOD’s National Defense Strategy.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in political science from University of Georgia and master’s degree in economics from University of Wales.
