Daniel Gelston, a two-decade intelligence and defense industry leader, will begin serving as president of defense and security group at CAE (NYSE: CAE) on Aug. 24.
He will oversee the business group through CAE’s office in Washington, D.C., and succeed Heidi Wood, the company’s executive vice president of business development and growth initiatives who assumed the role of acting group president in June, CAE said Monday.
Gelston “is a proven leader with more than 20 years of experience in the U.S. military, intelligence community and the global defence industry," said Marc Parent, president and CEO of CAE. "Dan's energy and his solid track record as a growth-focused leader will be invaluable in driving the growth of our Defence business in our core operations and expanding further into an array of related adjacencies that align well to our business strengths.”
Gelston previously worked at L3Harris Technologies (NYSE: LHX), where he served as president of broadband communications systems sector and head of the communication systems-West division. He also served as president of Smiths Detection and Cobham’s tactical communications and surveillance business. His military career included time as an armor and military intelligence officer.
