Dan Coats Returns to King & Spalding as National Security Senior Policy Adviser

Dan Coats, former director of national intelligence and a 2019 Wash100 winner, has rejoined King & Spalding as senior policy adviser within the law firm™s national security team in Washington, D.C.

He will help clients move through emerging processes and tools used by the U.S. government to address national security threats and provide them with advice as they navigate the congressional and national security landscape.

Robert Hays, chairman of King & Spalding, said the firm’s clients benefit from insights offered by former government officials who have experience seeing how the U.S. government approaches enforcement, trade, national security and regulations.

œDan builds on that, with his ability to counsel clients who are making high-level strategic decisions and navigating evolving U.S. government expectations concerning national security protections, Hays added.

Coats™ public service career included time as a senator, congressman and U.S. ambassador to Germany. Before serving in the Senate, he spent five years at King Spalding as counsel and senior policy adviser.
