Chris Fall, former director at the Department of Energy’s science office, has joined Mitre as vice president of applied sciences for the nonprofit corporation’s research and development organization.
He will oversee Mitre Labs’ R&D programs that explore quantum computing, synthetic biology, space, material science and other emerging technology areas, the company said Wednesday.
In his new capacity, Fall will be responsible for supervising 1,100 personnel, Mitre’s Clinical Insights Innovation Cell and five innovation outposts.
His government career also includes leadership roles at the Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy, the Office of Naval Research and the Office of Science and Technology Policy.
Mitre Labs launched in July 2020 as part of the parent organization’s restructuring initiative aimed at expanding its impact across federally funded R&D centers and work with the commercial and academic sectors.
