Charles Clancy, who most recently served as executive director at Virginia Tech’s Hume Center for National Security and Technology, will serve as vice president of intelligence programs at Mitre, effective July 8.
Clancy oversaw research initiatives at the National Security Agency and is a renowned expert in wireless security, machine learning, artificial intelligence and 5G, Mitre said Tuesday.
He holds more than 20 patents and has led programs related to cryptographic authentication and spectrum security and co-authored five books.
Gus Bentivegna, an 18-year veteran of human capital management firm Willis Towers Watson, has been appointed VP of human resources and talent enablement.
He served as a client relationship chief at Willis Towers and held HR, communication and change management positions at Nielsen (NYSE: NLSN), Citibank and Verizon (NYSE: VZ).
Jason Providakes, Mitre president and CEO and a 2019 Wash100 winner, said the appointment of Clancy and Bentivegna to the leadership team comes as the nonprofit company continues to deliver novel platforms and build up its government sponsor and partnerships.
