Borsight Wins $2.2B Air Force T-6A Avionics Replacement Contract

The U.S. Air Force has awarded Borsight a potential eight-year, $2.18 billion indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract to replace avionics on the T-6A aircraft and simulators.

Contract work will be performed at Ogden, Utah; Randolph Air Force Base, Sheppard AFB and Laughlin AFB in Texas; Vance AFB, Oklahoma; Columbus AFB, Mississippi; and Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida, through Jan. 6, 2034, the Department of Defense said Monday.

Borsight secured the contract after beating out 11 other bidders. The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center obligated $8.8 million in fiscal 2024 and 2025 research, development, test and evaluation funds at the time of award.

According to the award notice posted on SAM.gov, the contract comes with a four-year base period, beginning on July 7, 2025, and one four-year option period.

About T-6A Texan II

The T-6A Texan II is a military trainer version of Raytheon’s Beech/Pilatus PC-9 Mk II. It is a single-engine, two-seat aircraft designed to train Joint Primary Pilot Training students in basic flying skills.

The T-6A has a 1,100 hp Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-68 turbo-prop engine and can perform an initial climb of 3,100 feet per minute and reach 18,000 feet in less than six minutes.
