Boeing (NYSE: BA) has received a $194.2M delivery order modification to provide MH-47G multirole heavy-lift helicopters to the U.S. Special Operations Command.
The company will deliver six renew-build and one new-build aircraft to address SOCOM’s sustainment requirements for heavy assault, rotary wing aircraft, the Department of Defense said Wednesday.
SOCOM issued the modification to also mitigate the effects of MH-47G aircraft availability amid a growing demand in special operations.
The command used fiscal 2019 procurement, defense-wide appropriations along with U.S. Army aircraft procurement funds to cover the full obligated amount. Contract work primarily takes place in Ridley Park, Penn.
Boeing said last year it will provide four MH-47G helicopters with the Block II configuration to the Army’s Special Operations Aviation Command under a $139.8M order.
