Boeing (NYSE: BA) has been awarded a three-year, $150M contract modification to provide an additional four configuration 2 boost vehicles for the Missile Defense Agency’s Ground-based Midcourse Defense system.
The undefinitized contract action increases the cumulative value of an initial sole-source GMD development and sustainment award from $11.34B to $11.49B, the Department of Defense said Friday.
Work under the original award includes efforts to develop, test, field, engineer, integrate and maintain the weapon system. The company also provides training, equipment production and operations support services.
GMD interceptors are designed to track long-range ballistic missile threats and use collision force to destroy the target.
