Bechtels plant machinery division has secured a potential $393 million contract to continue to supply nuclear propulsion components to the U.S. Navy.
The Naval Sea Systems Command awarded the cost-plus-fixed-fee contract as part of the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program, the Defense Departmentsaid Wednesday.
The Energy Departments National Nuclear Security Administrationoversees the initiative that aims to design, fabricate and test nuclear propulsion parts for installation in the service branchs submarines, aircraft carriers and other nuclear-powered vessels.
Bechtel will perform contract work in New York and Pennsylvania.
NAVSEA will use the service branchs shipbuilding and conversion funds for fiscal 2016 to fund the contract, according to DoD.
