BAE Systems has been selected to develop a radar jamming technology to increase the survivability of the U.S. Army’s unmanned and rotary-wing aircraft platforms.
The company said Tuesday its FAST Labs research and development arm will work to integrate adaptive radio frequency sensing and jamming features into a single platform.
A digital phased array will be developed to consolidate software-programmable antennas to support multiple functions and address size, weight and power requirements, the defense contractor added.
With the continuously evolving threat landscape, its critical to provide the next-generation of digital phased array technology to better defend our armed forces in electronic warfare, said Chris Rappa, product line director for radio frequency, electronic warfare and advanced electronics at FAST Labs.
