BAE Systems’ ordnance systems business has secured a two-year, $180.1M contract modification to help the U.S. Army operate and maintain a Radford, Va., factory for rocket and missile propellants.
The company will continue support services at the Radford Army Ammunition Plant through Dec. 31, 2021, the Department of Defense said Tuesday.
Army Contracting Command obligated $38.9M at the time of award.
The seven-acre manufacturing facility was established in the 1940s and serves as the only supplier of cellulose nitrate, which is the key component used to produce propellants, within North America.
