BAE Systems has secured a potential $269M contract modification to manufacture an additional 168 infantry fighting vehicles as part of the U.S. Army’s Bradley IFV modernization program.
The company said Tuesday it previously secured funds to initially produce 164 Bradley A4 units and the latest award will bring the total amount of production fund to $578M.
Under the modification, BAE will perform upgrades and provide associated spares for the M2A4 IFV and M7A4 Fire Support Team variants of the Bradley vehicle platform.
The A4 configuration employs an updated powertrain designed to increase vehicle mobility and engine horsepower, a wide-angle vision technology and displays built to show classified and unclassified data.
“Bradley is one of the most critical vehicles in the Army™s [armored brigade combat team] today because it allows the Army to transport troops to the fight, and provide covering fire to suppress enemy vehicles and troops, said Scott Davis, vice president of combat vehicle programs at BAE.
