Australia Expands Boeing's F/A-18 Support Services Under $115M Contract

Boeing (NYSE: BA) has received a potential $114.6 million contract extension that will expand the scope of the company’s sustainment support work on Australia’s F/A-18A/B multimission fighter jets.

The company said Friday its defense business in Australia will serve as the weapon systems integrator as well as coordinate engineering, logistics and maintenance services for the Australian air force’s 71 F/A-18A/Bs under the revised Classic Hornet Sustainment Support contract.

Darren Edwards, vice president and managing director at Boeing Defense Australia, said the company will collaborate with industry partners to sustain the country’s Classic Hornet fleet.

Air Vice-Marshal Catherine Roberts, head of the Australian defense department’s aerospace systems division, said the new agreement will extend the fleet’s air combat capacity through December 2021.

Boeing was awarded a $203 million contract in August 2016 to sustain the Australian air force F/A-18F Super Hornet and EA-18G Growler fleets.
