Susan Lawrence, formerly a senior vice president for Booz Allen Hamilton’s (NYSE: BAH) defense market group, has been named a managing director within the national security practice at Accenture’s (NYSE: ACN) federal services business.
The 40-year U.S. Army veteran will help Accenture Federal Services’ clients develop and implement mission support and technology transformation strategies that aim to counter evolving threats, Accenture said Tuesday.
Matt Tait, head of defense and national security practice at AFS, said Lawrence has spearheaded efforts to deliver new electronic platforms, communications and wireless systems to warfighters and advance the Army’s command, control, communications and computers and information technology strategies amid budget pressures.
Lawrence joined Booz Allen in 2014 after her retirement from the Army, where she served as chief information officer and commanding general for the Network Enterprise Technology Command.
As Army CIO, the retired lieutenant general helped establish the Army Cyber Command and was responsible for IT infrastructure, defense enterprise systems, C4 tools and other technology platforms used by warfighters and civilian workers.
She also managed the service’s network, IT and C4 functions during U.S. military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.
