Boeing (NYSE: BA) has secured $560M in orders to rebuild Apache attack helicopters for three U.S. allies via a foreign military sales process with the U.S. Army.
The company said Thursday it will modernize 47 AH-64D units to the AH-64E variant and aims to deliver the upgraded aircraft by the early 2020s.
Apache helicopters have logged 4.6M flight hours and been deployed to 16 countries to date.
Kathleen Jolivette, vice president of attack helicopter programs at Boeing, said the platform offers advanced technology and features intended to help allied defense troops perform national security missions.
AH-64 is designed to operate at a speed of more than 150 knots and fly as high as 2,800 feet per minute.
