Amazon (Nasdaq: AMZN) founder and CEO Jeff Bezos said the company is committed to supporting the Department of Defenses efforts to strengthen national security, Reutersreported Sunday.
Bezos told attendees at a defense forum in Simi Valley, Calif., that senior leaders are responsible for guiding company personnel on identifying contracting opportunities to work on and support.
My view is that if big tech is turning their back on the Department of Defense, this country is in big trouble, he said.
The Amazon CEOs comments come after the company protested the DoDs decision toaward the potential $10B Joint Enterprise Defense Infrastructure contract toMicrosoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) in September.
The JEDI indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract includes enterprise cloud migration services to support the DoDs modernization efforts and covers a period of up to 10 years.
