A joint venture between Alberici and Mortenson has won a potential three-year, $592.3M contract from the U.S. Navy to provide design-bid-build services for a recapitalization project at a submarine dry dock in Georgia.
Work under the fixed-price-award-fee contract will involve steel caisson overhaul and repair efforts as well as modernization of fire detection, power distribution and chilled water systems at Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay, the Department of Defense said Friday.
The Alberici-Mortenson JV will also re-coat dock superstructure, replace roof and wall panels, renovate corroded steel components and rebuild roller gate rails and sluice gates.
Naval Facilities Engineering Command Southeast received two proposals for the contract and the service branch obligated $191.9M at the time of award.
