Boeing Secures $8.57B Air Force Contract Action to Deliver F-15IA Jets to Israel

The U.S. Air Force has awarded Boeing an undefinitized contract action valued at $8.57 billion for the design, integration, instrumentation, test, production and delivery of 25 F-15IA fighter jets to the Israeli Air Force.

The Department of War said Monday that the contract action includes options for the production and delivery of an additional 25 F-15IAs.

Boeing will build the military aircraft at its facilities in St. Louis, Missouri. The contract’s expected completion date is on Dec. 31, 2035.

The transaction includes foreign military sales to the State of Israel. The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio serves as the contracting activity.

What Is an F-15IA?

The award comes over a year after the Israel Ministry of Defense signed an agreement with Boeing for the purchase of the fighter jets.

The F-15IA, according to IMOD, is an upgraded aircraft equipped with weapon systems, including technology made in Israel. It also offers increased payload capacity and enhanced capabilities to meet the Israeli Air Force’s operational needs and address current and emerging threats in the Middle East.

Other US Defense Sales to Israel

In 2024, Boeing also received contracts to provide seven P-8A Poseidon maritime surveillance aircraft and 15 KC-46A Pegasus tankers to Israel. The contracts are collectively worth over $4 billion.

The Department of State cleared the Israeli government’s request to buy F-15IA, advanced medium-range air-to-air missiles, 120mm tank cartridges, family of medium tactical vehicles and M933A1120mm high-explosive mortar cartridges under separate FMS agreements in August 2024. Boeing, RTX, General Dynamics, Northrop Grumman and Oshkosh were named as principal contractors.
