The U.S. Air Force has awarded 23 companies positions on a potential 10-year, $12.5 billion multiple-award contract to modernize, maintain and operate the Department of the Air Force’s base area network infrastructure.
The Department of Defense said Friday the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center launched a competitive acquisition process and received 47 offers for the Base Infrastructure Modernization, or BIM, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract.
The service issued a solicitation for the BIM contract in March.
The BIM program seeks to deliver a modernized wireless architecture to facilitate interoperability with joint network and mission systems, offer centralized vulnerability management and provide reliable data connections across installations.
Work will occur at DAF locations worldwide through Aug. 15, 2034.
The military branch will obligate $11,500 in fiscal 2024 operation and maintenance funds at the time of award.
