The U.S. Air Force has awarded California-based maintenance, repair and overhaul company Aero Turbine a contract modification valued at $228.5 million for the continued management of its J85 small single-shaft turbojet engine aircraft components subject to repair and overhaul. The modification raises the cumulative value of the contract to $453.4 million, according to the Department of Defense.
Work will be performed at the company’s Stockton, California, facility until Dec. 29, 2032. The Air Force Sustainment Center at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma serves as the contracting activity.
The Air Force awarded the original firm-fixed-priced contract for the management of J85 components to Aero Turbine in December 2022. The contract’s ordering period is 10 years, comprising a five-year base and five-year options.
Aero Turbine’s History of Supporting the Air Force
Aero Turbine, a subsidiary of StandardAero, has been a long-time Air Force partner. In 2017, the MRO company also won a contract valued at $128.8 million to overhaul J85-GE-5/-21 turbojet engine components.
