An ASRC Federal business unit has secured a potential $200 million contract to help the Air Force Research Laboratory test and evaluate rocket propulsion technologies.
The company said Friday its space and defense business will also provide operational support for U.S. Air Force rocket engines as part of the Aerospace Systems Technical Research and Operations Services contract.
Mark Gray, president and CEO of ASRC Federal, said the contract provides an opportunity for the company to support AFRL and its mission to advance the country’s rocket propulsion systems.
“We have brought together a team of propulsion professionals with the experience and expertise required to design, construct and modify AFRL™s rocket test facilities and systems, and to safely perform test operations,” added Gray, a 2018 Wash100 recipient.
AS&D will perform contract work at Edwards Air Force Base in California.
The service branch aims to end its reliance on foreign engines to power U.S. launch vehicles.
