Who Is Dustin Gard-Weiss?
Gard-Weiss is a distinguished intelligence and national security professional with vast, decades-long experience throughout the Pentagon and IC. He was most recently the deputy under secretary of war for intelligence and security.
Prior to joining the Office of the Secretary of War, Gard-Weiss was the deputy director of national intelligence for policy and capabilities in the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. There, he led strategy, policy and capabilities development to ensure the IC was positioned for the threats and challenges of an uncertain future.
At ODNI, Gard-Weiss served as the associate deputy director of national intelligence for enterprise capacity, helping lead the organization responsible for IC resources, workforce, systems, technology, acquisitions and infrastructure. He also spent time as the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency’s associate director for enterprise, where he led and managed U.S. and international GEOINT community partnerships, executed GEOINT functional manager authorities and chaired the U.S. GEOINT Committee of Record.
Gard-Weiss worked on the staff of the Chief of Naval Operations at increasing levels of leadership and responsibility. This included as the acting deputy director of naval intelligence and as assistant deputy director of naval intelligence/assistant head of naval intelligence activity. He also served at the Defense Intelligence Agency’s Joint Interagency Task Force-Combating Terrorism as the deputy counter terrorism mission manager.
