Booz Allen Hamilton has signed an agreement with Cobham Ultra Group, a portfolio company of private equity firm Advent, to acquire Ultra I&C Mission Solutions for $720 million as part of a push to expand its technology offerings for national security missions.

Booz Allen said Monday it expects the acquisition to conclude during the second quarter of its fiscal year 2027, ending Sept. 30, subject to customary closing conditions. The McLean, Virginia-based tech company will operate Ultra Mission Solutions as a wholly owned subsidiary upon the deal’s closing.
According to Booz Allen, the proposed transaction will facilitate product integration and make commercial offerings accessible through foreign military sales, outcomes-based procurement and other go-to-market channels.
What Is Ultra I&C Mission Solutions?
Ultra I&C Mission Solutions is a defense tech business focused on developing mission-critical software, edge-compute and encryption products for military and national security customers.
The Austin, Texas-based business’ portfolio includes products such as Apex, ADSI, ACTS, Rain and Knox, which support command and control, secure data movement, edge computing and encryption capabilities.
Ultra Mission Solutions employs about 220 people, including approximately 135 engineers.

Horacio Rozanski, chairman and CEO of Booz Allen, said technological superiority remains essential to U.S. national security and that the company is investing to accelerate the delivery of defense technology products to support national security missions.
“Now, by integrating Ultra Mission Solutions into our robust portfolio, we are further strengthening our ability to rapidly build and field the commercial products that will keep America ahead,” added Rozanski, a three-time Wash100 honoree.
Steve Escaravage, president of Booz Allen’s defense technology business, said the company invests in scalable platforms that help unite the defense tech ecosystem.
“This combination provides a foundation for our continued investment to harness advantage from commercial technology innovation,” added Escaravage, a 2026 Wash100 awardee.
Mladen Brkic, president of Ultra Mission Solutions, said joining Booz Allen will provide greater scale and investment for employees, products and technologies that support customers operating in contested environments.
How Does the Deal Align With Booz Allen’s Strategic Investments?
The proposed acquisition follows several recent Booz Allen investments aimed at advancing defense and national security technologies, including investments in autonomous drone manufacturer PDW, maritime robotics company Ulysses, space technology company Portal Space Systems, autonomous systems orchestration provider NODA AI and NextG technology company ODC.
