NEC National Security Systems has appointed finance executive Alex Mutambudzi as chief financial officer.
In a LinkedIn post published Friday, the company said Mutambudzi assumes the CFO role after serving in several finance leadership positions since joining NEC in 2017.
Who Is Alex Mutambudzi?
According to NEC NSS, Mutambudzi has nearly a decade of experience with the company and more than 25 years of experience in mergers and acquisitions, post-merger integration, financial planning and analysis, and commercial finance.
His background includes work with private equity-backed and multinational technology businesses.
Mutambudzi has been with NEC since 2017 and has held finance leadership roles, including financial controller and finance director for M&As and projects, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Before NEC, he was finance director at TLM Technologies and spent seven years at Micros Retail Systems, where he served as commercial financial controller. He also served as a management accountant at Microsoft and a financial planning and reporting analyst at Hewlett-Packard.
NEC NSS said Mutambudzi holds a Chartered Institute of Management Accountants qualification, a bachelor’s degree in accountancy and business finance, and a master’s degree in business administration.

NEC National Security Systems is a subsidiary of NEC Corp. of America focused on providing biometric identity and artificial intelligence technology offerings for defense, intelligence, homeland security and law enforcement agencies.
The Arlington, Virginia-based company delivers technology for use in various applications, including access control, scene processing, identity verification, advanced analytics, transportation security, border control and fiber optic sensing.
Mutambudzi’s promotion came a year after Todd Morris was named president of NEC NSS.
