Leidos has named federal healthcare growth executive Luke Thomas as vice president of veterans affairs.

The company announced the appointment in a LinkedIn post on Friday, saying Thomas will help strengthen Leidos’ ability to deliver technology-driven health capabilities that improve outcomes and experiences for veterans.

What Will Luke Thomas Do at Leidos?

In his new role, Thomas will lead growth efforts for Leidos’ veterans affairs portfolio, helping identify opportunities to bring the company’s healthcare, digital modernization and technology offerings to VA customers.

“We’re welcoming Luke Thomas to the Leidos team as our Vice President of Veterans Affairs,” the company said. “Luke brings nearly a decade of growth experience supporting the VA mission, with a focus on leveraging technology to improve the Veteran experience.”

Thomas will report to Rich Wilson, senior vice president for health and services growth, who joined Leidos earlier this year to help expand the company’s healthcare business.

What Experience Does Luke Thomas Bring?

Before joining Leidos, he served as vice president and enterprise growth lead at TISTA Science and Technology, where he led business development and capture activities across federal agencies and supported merger and acquisition assessments and corporate growth strategy.

Prior to TISTA, Thomas was vice president of business development for federal healthcare at Optum, where he helped secure the joint venture’s first VA IT contract win and supported efforts tied to the VA’s Transformation Twenty-One Total Technology 2 program, known as T4NG2.

His previous experience also includes veterans-focused business development positions at Cognitive Medical Systems and Accenture Federal Services, where he supported major VA modernization programs, including Digital GI Bill, loan guaranty and enterprise IT initiatives.

How Does the Move Align With Leidos’ Healthcare Strategy?

Thomas’ appointment comes as Leidos continues expanding its health-focused leadership team.

Earlier this month, the company named healthcare technology veteran Amy Wykoff senior vice president and chief product officer for its health business. Wykoff was tapped to help advance programs supporting healthcare modernization efforts for military personnel and veterans.
